In July 2026, Assam had faced one of the worst floods in decades. I had claimed multiple lives of humans and animals and caused destruction of infrastructures and properties that is beyond imagination. The villages in Sivasagar were most affected by the flood. People lost their family, friends, homes, their belonging, and everything else they had. Therefore, I, along with my friends wanted to do something for the flood-affected people.
Now to plan and execute an initiative to help the people, we had to take of a few major components and therefore divided the plan into four phases.
Phase 1: The Intention
We were clear that we wanted to something for the flood-affected people; however, we need to make it a little specific. After multiple discussions, we decided to provide supplies to the flood-affected students. Through our non-profit organization, the Native Green Foundation, we started the “Guardians of the Black Waters” initiative to raise funds and help the students within our capacity.
Phase 2: Helping Hands
Since we are from, Guwahati, we wanted to partner with someone who knew the locality. During our search for an on-ground partner, we came found out about the Aashayein Foundation. They were already working in the flood-affected location, and their team guided us to identify the requirements of the students. And thanks to the goodwill of our supporters, we were able to procure educational supplies for 100 students.
Phase 3: Hauling
Once we had the supplies and the plan in place, we need to take care of our transportation. We needed a vehicle that could transport 6 people from our team along with the supplies for 100 students. That is where our travel partner EzzyCarz, helped us by providing a Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. The Ertiga they provided was less a year old, well maintained, and freshly cleaned. Raktim Borgohain, the owner of EzzyCarz was cooperative and made the whole process easy and simple and handed-over the vehicle on the evening of August 21, 2026.

Phase 4: One the Ground
On August 21, 2026, we worked till late night and loaded the car with the supplies. None of us had and good sleep and we started our journey towards Sivasagar before sunrise at 4am on August 22, 2026. The journey ahead of was around 400km. From Guwahati to Nagaon, we encountered heavy rain but that did not stop or slowed us down. After travelling around 130km, we stopped at a restaurant in Amoni for breakfast which we quickly wrapped up and continued our journey. At around 3pm we reached Nazira, Sivasagar, where we met Mr. Debojit Das, the co-founder of Aashayein Foundation. After we quickly had our lunch along with their team, they guided us to Bogdoi, a flood-affected village.
On the road we witnessed the wrath of the flood; properties destroyed, debris everywhere, and crop fields covered under thick layer of sediments. We saw building having water marks on second story walls, showing how high the water level had gone up to.
Once we reached the village, the locals, our team from the Native Green Foundation, and the Aashayein Foundation team worked together to distribute the supplies to 100 students efficiently without any hassle. Even during such hard times, the locals showed utmost hospitality and offered us soft drinks.
After completing the distribution successfully, we started our journey back to Golaghat. At around 9pm we reached the Golaghat Circuit House, where we rested for the night. Next morning we started our journey way back to Guwahati at around 10am and after having to do a detour due to flooding in Jorabat, we reached home at around 7:30pm. After reaching Guwahati, EzzyCarz was kind enough to offer us a pickup of the car from our home.
At last. I would like to thank our supporters, EzzyCarz, Mr. Debojit Das and his team at the Aashayein Foundation, and the local people without whom this initiative would not have been possible.
