SJCAM SJ6 Legend Action Camera - Advantages and Disavantages - User Experience

The SJCAM SJ6 Legend action camera can be considered as one of the best entry level action cameras at a low budget. It supports an external mic as well and hence can be used for moto vlogging too. But, like everything else in this world, it has both advantages and disadvantages. In this article I will be discussing the pros and con of the SJCAM SJ6 Legend that I have noticed after using it for about 6 months.

PROS:

• Video Resolution : Upto 2K 30fps resolution. But, it is also capable of recording at 4K (interpolated) 30fps resolution. It can also record at 720p 120fps therefore, slow motion shots will not be a problem. The video quality is decent for the price it is available at.
• Photo Quality: Upto 16MP. The settings like exposure, ISO, etc can also be changed according to the preference.
  
• Gyro: There are 3 levels of gyro stabilization available to stabilize the video while moving. It can also be turned off.
• Waterproof: The camera comes with a waterproof casing and hence taking it into the pool or recording in the rain will be a piece of cake.
  
• Mounts: The camera comes along with some mounts which can be used attach the camera on to most of the surfaces.
• Battery life: The battery life is pretty good. While continuously recording videos at 720p 30fps  it can record beyond 1 hour.
• Secondary screen: The camera also has a screen in the front that provides information such as recording indicator, recording time, space remaining, etc.
• External mic support: It also supports external mic and hence it can be used for vlogging/moto vlogging as well. 
• WiFi connectivity: The camera can be connected to a smartphone using WiFi and can be controlled remotely using the SJCAM app.
• Price: The SJCAM SJ6 Legend can be bought online at price of INR 10,000 to INR 12,000.
  

CONS:

• Touchscreen: The touch responses of the touchscreen are not precise and also lags a bit. 
• Audio quality: The inbuilt mic do not record high quality audio. The input audio level controls are not precise and the audio tends to distort when recorded using the SJCAM external mic. Moreover, since it do not support after market adapters of mics, external mic only from SJCAM can be used. But, the input levels of the external mic can be controlled by covering the mic with medical tape. It improves the audio quality a lot.
• Low light image quality: Although it cannot be considered as a problem at the price it is available at but, the image quality tends to drop with the decrease in availability of light.
