The
Hyundai Santro was easily one of India's favourite hatchbacks. It was
known for its reliability, space, great engine, smooth transmission, and
of course, the tall boy stance . Moreover, it did not cost a lot of
money either. Although the Santro was a great car but, would have looked
outdated in today's market and hence, the production of the Santro was
put to an end in 2014. It disheartened many who would have loved to own
this car. It was then replaced by the Hyundai i10 and like almost every
Hyundai car, it was an instant hit.
Many
people might have forgotten the Santro but there are still many who
might have missed the Santro and wished it was still in the market. As
they say "miracles do happen" because people's wishes have been heard.
It is October, 2018 and the all new Hyundai Santro will be launched
anytime soon. So, let us take a moment to take a quick peek at all the
things you would want to know about the 2018 Santro .
DESIGN:
According
to Hyundai, the overall design is based on "Rhythmical Tension" to give
it a refined yet Sporty image. The new Santro has borrowed very less cues from the older generation Santro and the design looks fresh. It
seems to have retained its tall boy stance so, headroom should not be a
problem; but the design now has more curves added to it and does not
look boxy anymore. The small grill at the front is long gone and is now
being replaced by a giant grill that adds a "smiling" appearance. The
fog lamps too are not where we are generally used to seeing fog lamps in
a car. They are being moved more nearer too the head lamp and
therefore, throw of the beam can be expected to travel further. Even the
side view does not look disproportionate at all.
INFOTAINMENT:
The
all new Santro will have a first in segment 17.64 cm touch Audio-Video
screen which can be expected to be available only in the higher
variants. It will also come with Android Auto and Apple Carplay, Voice
recognition, and rear view camera.
SAFETY:
Hyundai
says that the new Santro is built on a new platform. 63% Advanced High
Strength Steel and High Strength steel have been used to provide better
structural quality. Also ABS, EBD, and Driver's Airbag will come as
standard. It is appreciable that safety has been given high priority.
COMFORT:
The
company claims that the 2018 Santro will come with best in class AC and
will come with rear AC vents too to ensure comfort for the rear
passengers. It will have Hyundai's patented 'Eco-Coating Technology'
which will prevent development of unpleasant odour in the AC Evaporator
by degrading micro organisms.
ENGINE:
The
Santro will be powered by a 4-cylinder 1.1 litre petrol which will
result in lesser vibrations than a 3-cylinder car. It will also come
with AMT which probably will be either optional or might be available as
a separate variant. And it is worth noting that the Santro now will
also have an option for a factory fitted CNG kit too.
WARRANTY:
The Santro will come with 3years/100,000 kms warranty and 3 years Road Side Assistance which is best in class. The maintenance cost is claimed to be the lowest with doorstep service facility.
PRICE:
As
of now, there is no official announcement about the price of the car
but looking at the features of the product and the R&D that has been
done for its production, the starting can be expected to be around 4
Lacs.
